Teach Me to Love

My Review

Teach Me To Love (Teach Me, #2)Teach Me To Love by Alannah Carbonneau

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

NOTE: Although this book is about a different couple in this series. I highly recommend you first read Teach Me to Live (Teach Me – Book 1) Teach Me To Live. You need to learn the beauty and the essence of Austin and how he affected all the characters. Now having said that, here goes my review.

Teach Me To Love is book 2 of the Teach Me series. The story of Kaiden and Raina; they grew up together, their mothers were best friends. They were best friends and although unspoken, their feelings for each other went deeper. But, sometimes life has other plans. After an event that affected his life deeply, Kaiden goes on a journey throughout Europe to heal and to find himself. He disappears for 9 months without any communication with Raina. Then one day he comes back. A changed man and ready to start living and loving. This is a beautiful and very sweet friends to lover summer romance. Kaiden has to proof himself worthy of loving Raina and of loving himself.

Kaiden had built a wall around himself and did not let others in. He was a “man whore” with a different girl everyday. No attachments. Raina is a free spirit. A lover of nature. They always had feelings for each other, but they never crossed the line. Kaiden’s actions hurt Raina, but she treasured their friendship and never spoke of her feelings.

This story is about two souls finding each other and opening up to love. Made my heart happy and I shed some tears. But, it’s a beautiful story.

One of my favorite scenes:

“I don’t think there was a day I didn’t want you since I fell in love with you.”
“When did you fall?”
“Years ago.”
“Beautiful, I have years to make up for.”
“You don’t. This is where we were always supposed to be-this moment, right here beneath these stars is where we were always meant to begin. Please don’t take that away from us with regrets for the past. Everything we were has led us here-and I wouldn’t trade this moment for the world.”

I was provided with an ARC by the author in exchange for my honest review.

Beguiling by Alex Lucian

Hate: to dislike intensely or passionately; feel extreme aversion for or extreme hostility toward.
Scarlet Jennings, the preacher’s daughter who lived across the street, was a royal, uptight pain in my ass. When she looked at me, she saw a college quarterback asshole with rocks for brains, but she didn’t have a single word for what was happening between us.
When we were forced to ride together every single day that summer, there was definitely some dislike going on. Extreme hostility was a given, considering that we were spending so much time together in close quarters.
One night of bed-breaking, body-shattering, lose-your-voice-from-screaming passion had surprised us both, but it was only just the beginning…

It seems the things worth keeping are often the hardest to hold…

I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music.
Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It’s the thing that’s pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I’m finally making my way, making my mark. I can’t afford to fall for one of music’s brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I’m holding on tight with both hands. I won’t let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.

I had one thing in my life that mattered – music. The only constant, it’s taken me to heights most people only dream about; a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she’s all I think about, like a song I can’t get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything – I will. And once she’s mine, I won’t let go.

I shouldn’t have come. All the things I felt and fought, the things I suspected he felt too, he just spewed all over me. And as much as I want to be, I’m not sure I’m ready. I’ll never forget seeing my Mama in bed for days after Daddy left. And even though she got up, I suspect a part of her never left that bed, but just stayed there, waiting. We had to leave the house where she grew up and where I spent my first years, because Daddy left us with nowhere to go. Mama learned to stand on her two feet, and I’ve done the same. I just didn’t count on Rhyson sweeping me off of them.

“We’re obviously on different pages about this.” I pull my hands free and turn to leave, but he steps in front of me, blocking my grand exit. “Let’s talk later.”

“Enough talking.”

The heat of his body grabs me before his hands do. He traps my chin between two fingers, taking my mouth in a paradox of rough and tender. I want to move. To slide away from his body pressing me into the pool table. But I can’t. Not with his hand caressing my back. Not with his tongue in my mouth. Not with his erection pressing into my stomach. I can’t. I won’t. I have been denying myself this, and I’m so damn hungry. My mouth opens under his, ravenous and wet and hot. His groan vibrates against my lips.

“Yes. Good God, yes, Pep.” His words slip down my throat.

I strain up on tiptoes, clawing my fingers into his dark hair, forcing him closer. He lifts me onto the pool table, planting himself between my knees. His fingers skim my bare thigh, working up my leg until he reaches a damp patch of silk. He pushes my panties aside, rubbing his hand into the wet flesh there before sliding one long finger and then another inside of me. I rock into these fingers which have awed millions with their skill. They own me. I’m the instrument in his hands. He’s playing me. Plucking at me. Strumming me.

He tugs at the wide neck of my sweater until it falls away from my shoulder, slipping his hand in and cupping my naked breast. He brushes his fingers over my nipple, and I lose my mind and every inhibition. My head flops back and I stretch my legs wider, offering him anything he wants.

“Are you kidding me?” His question burns the vulnerable curve of my neck as he drags his lips to my shoulder. “You come here wearing no bra and think I won’t…”

He abandons the words, his dark, untidy head disappearing under my sweater, and before I have time to regain even millimeters of sanity, my nipple is in his mouth and he’s suckling me. Not gentle. Not soft. My breasts are so small, he almost eats me whole. Every draw, every suck, every bite sends a power surge to my core until my knees hold his hips in a desperate grip, and my nails rake across the flat surface of the pool table behind me.

His mouth at my breast. His fingers inside me. His clean scent surrounding me. I have nowhere to hide anymore. I am exposed. I want to spread myself wide open for him. That voice that has been telling me I can’t rely on him. I can’t trust him. I can’t need him—that voice is stunned into silence by his thorough possession of my body, by the inferno between my legs, blazing a hole right through my soul and scorching my heart.

STORM (Sex and Bullets 1)
by Jo Raven

Raylin is on the run. Her father’s associates will stop at nothing to claim the money he owes them—including killing her. A last ditch ticket to Florida, a temporary house to hide in and no future to look forward to. That is, until she meets Storm, a tattooed bad boy who is housesitting down the beach and doing repairs for the summer. A perfect place, a perfect pair of strong arms, a spot of calm in which to hide for a while—or is it? Drop-dead gorgeous, kind, and hot in bed, Storm may not be what he seems. Who is the real Storm, and what is he hiding? Raylin had better find out before the bullets begin to fly. Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.
*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers
.* This is Book 1 of the Sex and Bullets series – a spin-off of the Inked Brotherhood series.
“Who the hell are you?” he whispers, his voice deep and hoarse, resonating inside my bones. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m just… housesitting,” I whisper back, scared and excited, and how can you be so stupid, Ray? “Let go of me.”
I shove at him and climb further up, to the top step. The sensor above us activates and light floods my face.
“You’re the one who caught me,” he says evenly, a splinter of something darker in his voice, and instead of running into the house and slamming the door shut, I turn around.
My lips part, my tongue curls against the roof of my mouth, and I stare. All the words be like, gone. Nothing to work with here. My throat dries up.
Good God, if he looked good from afar, he’s like a punch to the gut from up close. Gorgeous, with water drops gleaming on his lashes like diamonds, his dark hair plastered to his head and a light scruff darkening his jaw. His eyes are some shade of blue, washed out in the harsh light. With a thin scar running down one side of that ripped chest, black and red tattoos curling over his ribs, and his shorts clinging to his narrow hips, he’s…
Yeah, no words. My heart is hammering like I’ve run a hundred miles. Heat rises in my cheeks. My insides tighten and throb.
I think I’ve just fallen in instant and complete lust.

I want to start by saying that “I am in love with Mason”. He is hot, sweet and loving. The characters in this series are a good group; they have known each other since they were kids. So they know everything about each other, but yet there are secrets. Then you have the other kids, the mean girls and the jerk ex-boyfriend. But, they all play their role in the story.

“Mason only has a couple of more weeks before he has to get back to Norman for the start of fall training. His life has to return to normal, the before me sort of normal, and I have to figure out what my normal is because the normal before June doesn’t exist any longer. It will never be again. Somehow, I need to come to terms with that.”

In book 3 Red and Mason continue their summer romance; but they have something to say to each other and neither one seems to be able to say it.  Red has a secret. Mason is afraid to tell Red what he wants for their relationship once summer is over.

“It’s on the tip of my tongue to tell him, tell him my biggest secret, the one no one knows, the one that may ruin what we have.”

“So, let me get this straight, you are scared to tell Red how you feel because you are afraid of losin her, but if you don’t ever find a pair and tell her, you’re gonna lose her anyway.”

The gang has some great summer fun.

Mary Lou seems to have found her match in Monroe. Will she let her walls down?

An old friendship is rekindled.

A new couple emerges. Surprise!!

But it’s not all love, fun and games.  A secret from the past is revealed, will it change things for Red and Mason? Will another friendship be ruined?

There were anxious moments where I stopped reading and sent out private messages…threatening to show up with a pitchfork! Moments of crying out loud “NO!!!” But, I was asked to have faith; so I am practicing having faith and I am patiently strumming my fingers waiting to find out what will happen.

“It’s only ever been you, Red.”

Now, Mary Lou thinks I need a night of fun and adventure. I agree to go out, planning to get her off my back, but when I find myself in Mason Pierce’s arms, I’m thanking my lucky stars, and my best friend. ~Red

Love Surfaced by Michelle Lynn

The equations are simple.

Piper Ashby + Brad Ashby = Twin Siblings
Brad Ashby + Tanner McCain = Best Friends
Piper Ashby +Tanner McCain = Off limits
Tanner and I abided by the rules. We stayed on our designated sides of the relationship circle.
Ignoring swarming butterflies.
Brushing off skipped heartbeats.
Settling on lingering stares.
Here’s the secret … a hand extended over that invisible line once, exponentially changing the equation. I was convinced we could make our relationship work until Tanner broke the trust he embedded in me from the age of seven.
One deceit of mega proportions and the relationship we built for that short month vanished. I swore never to speak to him again and it’s worked. Until now—two years later, when my brother’s wedding places me face-to-face with the best man—Tanner McCain.
Leaving one equation to be solved. Can love surface twice?

Soon, I’m unable to focus, and I have no choice but to take a break to recoup some energy. Gripping the side of the pool, I toss my goggles on the cement and lay my head on top of my hands, leaning over the edge of the pool. Mentally tormenting myself on my recent obsession with Tanner McCain, I’m surprised when the echo of someone else in the pool alerts me.
There goes my therapy for today, I think to myself.
I hastily grab my goggles and rest them on my head. My eyes glance up to see if the person is one of my teammates, but what I find halts my breathing. Tanner snakes into the water, gracefully picking up each plastic rope and ducking underneath, until he reaches the lane right next to me. I gulp down the last of my saliva when he casually swings back and forth on the lane separator closest to me.
He’s breathtaking with his goggles resting on the top of his head and his strong biceps holding his body up in the water. “I thought I’d find you here.” His classic smirk from last night is back in place.
“You did?” Immediately, I hate my timid and unsure voice. Even worse, the hopefulness it’s laced with.
“Want to race? Loser chooses Truth or Dare?” He doesn’t make eye contact with me. Rather, he peers across the empty pool.
“So I can lose?”
Every swimmer from here to California beats themselves up on their workouts, imagining their fingertips on that tile wall before Tanner’s.
He chuckles. “You know I only use half of my energy when I go against you.”
I cup my hand and drag it across the pool, splashing his face. He shakes his head, water droplets spraying off his divine features.
“Jackass,” I say, my back against the tile wall. I purposely don’t allow my body to win the fight to break the distance between us.
“I’m kidding. Come on.” His head nods toward the other end of the pool. “One lap.”
Then, out of nowhere, a confident creature rises within me. I want to pick his brain and dig through the layers to discover exactly why he sought me out in this pool so early in the morning and why his hands roamed places on my body they never ventured before last night. Most of all, I want to know how he left me without even a good-bye.
“What do I get if I win?” I raise my eyebrows at him a few times for competition.

Michelle moved around the Midwest most of her life, transferring from school to school before settling down in the outskirts of Chicago ten years ago, where she now resides with her husband and two kids.  She developed a love of reading at a young age, which helped lay the foundation for her passion to write.   With the encouragement of her family, she finally sat down and wrote one of the many stories that have been floating around in her head. When she isn’t reading or writing, she can be found playing with her kids, talking to her mom on the phone, or hanging out with her family and friends.  But after chasing around twin preschoolers all day, she always cherishes her relaxation time after putting the kids to bed.
