Mia Lee has a secret…
A secret she’s kept hidden since she was eight years old, however, Mia will no longer allow that secret to define her.
An irrevocable decision has left Mia Lee a fugitive and on the run—a circumstance that should leave her weak and scared, yet Mia has never felt so alive.
Under the pseudonym of Paige Cassidy, Mia is ready to live the life she’s never had, and she’s determined not to allow her tainted past dictate her promising future.
Paige is on a Greyhound bus heading from L.A. to South Boston, Virginia, to start a new life. A life that includes finding her mother, who abandoned her at age three. But what she finds, is four people, who will change her life forever.
Yet no one can outrun their past…
Especially one filled with bitter memories, which refuse to remain hidden.
It feels effortless. And it feels right.
We stay hugging for a few moments, and as I nestle closer to his chest, surrounded by his smell, I know that I’m in trouble. I have feelings for someone who is going to be really, really hard to say goodbye to when the time comes. But when did this happen? When was the exact moment my world got tipped on its axis, and shaken up beyond repair?
I should have stopped it, but who am I to stand in the way of something that was inevitable?
The sound of Quinn’s heart beating steadily against my ear is comforting, and if I close my eyes really tight, I can pretend that I’m just a normal girl, being wrapped up in the arms of her normal…boyfriend? But make believe is for dreamers, and I’m a realist. I will enjoy the here and now because I don’t know what tomorrow holds.

MY INTERVIEW WITH MONICA JAMES
Did you always want to be a writer?
I never really had a moment where I was like, ‘Yes, I want to be a writer.’ It was more along the lines of, I have loved reading and writing for as long as I can remember, and I just fell into writing. I studied Philosophy and Literature at University, and I constantly would be jotting down poems, quotes, random facts etc, but never did I sit down and write a full length manuscript. I have written plenty of stories, but actually putting the blood, sweat and tears that goes into writing a full length manuscript was something I never did, until I wrote I Surrender.
How did you start writing, did you sit down one day and started writing or was it a process?
I just loved being able to express myself onto paper, as writing came so naturally to me. Then it just exploded one day and went from there. I love being able to tell a story, and share my vision with everyone who reads my work.
How do you create your stories, what inspires you?
Life inspired and still inspires me to write. I constantly have ideas swimming around in my head, so my problem is not inspiration, but more time. If I didn’t need to sleep, I would have published 100 novels by now LOL. I suppose in most circumstances, my characters story takes precedence over the storyline. But their story isn’t complete until I really nut out the idea for a book. My storyline changes constantly, and most times, my characters do their own thing, and I have no choice but to stay true to them. Writing for me is simple, I start with a character, whether it just be a name or gender, and then I let them do the talking.
How often do you write?
I write every day. Even if it’s just a paragraph, page, or chapter, I am constantly writing. My iPhone is my best friend LOL as the notes section is an organised mess!
Do you enjoy interacting with your fans?
I love it! Without my readers, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. I love the effort and undivided support my readers give me. My readers are incredibly loyal, and for that, I am ever grateful.
Who is your favorite author?
What is your favorite book?
Golly, this changes daily LOL! I guess one of my favourites would have to be, Flowers in the Attic. Wow, that broke some taboo literature rules for its time!
What is your favorite way to relax?
Writing is relaxing for me. It’s the editing and the re-reading which I find most stressful. I started writing because funnily enough, it relaxed me. But when I’m not writing, my most favourite way to relax is hanging out with my pets and seeing a movie.
Tell us 3 things about yourself?
I talk incessantly, I love lip gloss and Chucks, and I am terrified of Air Blown Inflatable Characters.
