After ditching her cheating, no-good lying, jerk of a fiancé at the doors to the alter, Scarlett Lynn Summers aka Red is lost…but not for too long. Thanks to her spunky best friend, she won’t stay under her covers hiding for long. Barging in with guns a blazin and curses a flyin, Mary Lou drags Red out for a weekend worth of adventures that just might be more than she bargains for.

Scarlett (Red) is happy and getting married. Too bad Jake is not worthy of her. The day of the wedding Jake shows his true colors and Scarlett calls the wedding off. She then hides in her room to grief; 2 weeks later her best friend Mary Lou (she is witty and loud and needs to pee a lot) forces her out of her room and back into the world.

Mary Lou to Scarlett: “You’ll have to take a shower, though, because you’ll stink up the Mustang, and I ain’t havin that shit. So, get your ass in the shower.”

This story is told in Scarlett’s and Mason’s POV and it alternates between present day and the past (high school years). They are perfect for each other, but miss their opportunity the first time around. It is beautifully written; the story is very sweet, romantic, zany and funny.

I won’t give any spoilers or tell you what develops. But, I will tell you that it is a charming story. It made me laugh and made my heart happy. It is a story about missed opportunities, second chances and true love. Things happen for a reason! It is going into my favorites.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

S.J. Sawyer is a twenty something Okie girl who has a husband, three children, and some really awesome friends who work as S.J.’s Sweet Tarts. She earned a Bachelors degree in English Literature with a minor in Sociology from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She always wanted to be an author and believes that it is completely epic that she has had the opportunity to write and publish her work. S.J. loves to read just as much as she loves to write and tries to do as much of both as possible.
